phil is an incredible bass player.... but mostly it is his perspective, the approach he takes to the tunes and the instrument, his attack and choice of angle and juxtaposition.... really utilizing the full range of the instrument that really catches my ear, more than a particular lick or MONSTER SOLO

there are times and recordings when he kind of disappears, and times when he lays an egg too!!!.... but those moments are far outweighed by long stretches of sustained (near) brilliance.....

He Lives;
One of my favourite shows, but the copy I have (I think from GDLive) has a muddier sound than the piece you posted. Where did you get it ?

That was a great tour, and as I've said before it's a good thing they finished with this show as it would have a hard one to follow.

yeah.... i was looking at setlist last night and a few of the shows from that our look really great and they are on my to-hear list....
